Social Media Content for the sales funnel
When it comes to social media marketing, there’s a lot that you need to consider. One thing you may not have thought about when creating content? The sales funnel.
If your social media channels look anything like mine, then you know there is a ton of advice out there about how to grow your channels. One thing I almost never get see mentioned is creating different content for for folks at each stage of the sales funnel.
There are different terms and labels people use for the sales funnel stages, but in my book there are four of them- awareness, consideration, purchase, and retention.
At the top of the sales funnel is the awareness stage. At this stage, folks are just becoming aware of the types of services or products that you provide. Moving down the sales funnel, the next stage is consideration. At this stage potential customers are considering investing in you and your services. Next is the purchase stage. This is the stage that gets the most attention because this is where the cash comes and when potential customers convert into paying clients. And lastly, we have the retention stage. This is where customers turn into repeat clients who continue to purchase your services and support your business.
You need to have content to address each of these stages. Think about it this way. If all of your content is spent pushing promotional material, you are really only speaking to folks who are already at the purchase stage. You're missing the opportunity to address folks who are yet to learn about your services and help them understand why your offerings are the best fit for them.
So, the next time you are creating content, make sure you are thinking about the sales funnel and making content that addresses each stage.
