5 tips to grow your social media & make more money

Here’s something new clients tell me all the time.

“My social media channels just exist. I’m not getting the results that I want and my channels aren’t helping me generate new business.” Does this sound familiar? Today, I’m giving you my top five tips for using social media to grow your business and make more money.

Tip Number one: Check your captions

Take a peek at your social media captions. Are you including a call to action in your posts? You should be using a CTA, or call to action, with almost all your posts. Use an engagement CTA like “Drop me a comment below and tell me which of these tips you’ll be using” or “Like this post if you agree!” Engagement CTAs encourage your audience to engage with your post. Increased engagement means the algorithm shows your posts to more people.

For promotional posts and videos use a CTA to drive people to click on the link in your bio, book a call, or send you a DM. I’ll typically say something like “Have a question about this, shoot me a DM” or “Click on the Book Now button in my bio to set up your free discovery call.” Your social media should be creating new leads- make sure you are giving potential clients the nudge they need to reach out!

Tip #2: Use the platform

Here’s the reality. Social media algorithms reward you for showing up. If you are engaging with the platform by commenting on other accounts and engaging with other creators content, your content will be shown to more people. So while it may be easy to pre-publish content and walk away from your social media, it unfortunately doesn’t work that way. Plus, the more you show up online, the easier it will be to cultivate a community of online fans who will steadfastly support you and help you grow your business. Make sure you are taking regular time to show up on your social media channels.

Tip #3: Utilize Social Selling

Your social media can and should be used to generate more revenue. Start by engaging with folks who regularly engage with your content. If they seem like they might be a good fit for your services, reach out and send them a DM. But make sure you are doing this in an authentic way. No one likes scammy cold selling in the DMs.

I like to welcome all my new followers to my channel and start a conversation. If we vibe, I may ask if they want to have a virtual coffee with me. If feel like I can help them and we will work well together, then and only then will I ask if they are interested in my services. Sales takes time and I like to do it an an authentic way to ensure that it will benefit both parties.

Tip #4 Use video

In 2022, video for social media is no longer optional. Video content has a longer shelf life which means more people an opportunity to see it. Video content generates more engagement, but more importantly, it gives your audience a better opportunity to get to know you. Video helps people get a sense of your personality and your vibe and will help you attract your ideal clients faster. I’ve mentioned the algorithm before. The algorithm highly favors video content, so if you want to have your posts seen by more people, you need to get in front of that camera!

Tip #5: Promote your freebies

Obviously as a social media pro I believe in the power of social media to grow your business, but you also need to consider how or if your social media is growing your email list. Conversion rates for email marketing are about twice as high as they are for social media marketing, so make sure you are consistently working to grow your email list. Promote your newsletter and lead magnets on digital channels and soon you will have your social media and email generating a consistent stream of dream clients.

So to review, my top five tips for using social media to grow your following and your business are to use call to actions in your captions, show up online, utilize social selling, record video, and promote your freebies to grow your list.
